Our Apple Raisin Cookies are delicious and have no sugar added! They’re packed with raisins and apple goodness, making them perfect for any time of day. This recipe was originally featured in our 1994 cookbook.
Ingredients
½ cup chopped dates
1 cup raisins
½ cup chopped apples
1 cup water
2 eggs, beaten
½ cup shortening
¾ cup chopped nuts (walnuts work well)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 ¼ cups flour
Instructions
Combine dates, raisins, apples, and water. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Chill dough. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° F. for 10-12 minutes. Best if kept frozen in an airtight container. Very moist. To thaw, move them from the freezer to the fridge the night before to keep texture intact and avoid condensation. Alternatively to thaw, set them out for 30-60 minutes at room temperature or microwave for 10-15 seconds (watch closely) at a time until thawed.
