Colleen Anderson, Mercy House International CEO, received a 2024 Nation of Neighbors℠ empowerment award and a $10,000 grant.

Mercy House International is a faith-based, nonprofit ministry dedicated to the renewal of women and their children suffering from domestic abuse. The organization operates two upscale resale shops, 1st Hand Seconds Unique Boutique and Chic-ee Chic-ee Bridal Boutique. All profits from the boutiques support women and children in their community.

“Our boutiques provide the financial resources to help women change their lives,” said Colleen. “But ultimately, we believe the healing hand of God will minister and deliver them from bondage to freedom.”

Referrals come from multiple sources, including churches, county courts, DHS, law enforcement agencies, and private citizens. In collaboration with a strong network of community agencies, Mercy House International assists clients with various immediate needs.

One client needed to leave the area with her children. She found a new apartment but did not have the resources to cover the cost of moving. “She was hardworking and determined, but she needed a loving, helping hand,” said Colleen. “We helped her move and paid her deposits so she can raise her children in a safe and loving home.”

Mercy House International invites all community members to join its empowering mission of helping women break free from abusive relationships. Every purchase made supports their life-changing work, transforming empathy into action and making a real difference in the lives of women in need.
